About AirHop Communications

Founded in 2007, AirHop is a privately held startup that develops advanced RAN intelligence software critical to the next wave of the mobile Internet. AirHop’s eSON™ products are the first to completely address the installation, operation and performance challenges of multi-layer, small cell deployments.

AirHop’s eSON technology is revolutionary because it solves the RAN gap problem by enabling the deployment of unplanned small cells via not only auto-configuration and maintenance, but, more importantly, dynamic optimization while they are in operation. With the use of eSON, networks can achieve the performance required by the 3G or 4G standard without traditional planning or when traditional planning is not viable.

Mobile World Congress 2011 AirHop demonstrated the real-world implications of the interference caused by multiple small cell deployment. When eSON was enabled and was actively managing the interference between the femtocells, they worked as expected, and a bandwidth meter showed the available bandwidth actually doubled due to the software’s optimization capabilities.

AirHop has gained significant industry recognition for its technological innovation. The company was  named to Light Reading Mobile’s list of Top Ten Startups to Watch in 2011, was named a FierceWireless Fierce 15 Top Wireless Company for 2010 and earned the 2011 Telecom Council of Silicon Valley SPIFFY Award for Most Disruptive Technology.
